You can link to files from your League's main menu. This may come in handy if your League uses, for example, a printable membership form or interest survey. In order to do this, follow the instructions below. Follow the additional links for some extra guidance on uploading these files to the Media Library--upload the file before linking to it in the menu.

  1. Ensure that the file you are using is already uploaded to the Media Library. If not, follow these instructions.
  2. Once the file has been uploaded, copy its name/title as it appears in the Media Library--you'll be searching for it in the next few steps.
  3. Go to Manage Files & click View all files. We need to search for this file in order to recover its URL.
  4. In the Name field, paste the file's title (from step 2) & click Apply.
    • TIP: You can narrow your search by specifying the Type of content, the User who uploaded the file, the Media Tag(s) assigned to the file, any related Issues, or any part of the Description.
  5. When you find the correct file in the list, click its name (under Details, on left).
    • TIP: The URL in your internet browser's address bar should read: https://my.lwv.org/files/filename (where filename is the assigned title you gave the file, or the original user who uploaded)
  6. Copy this URL from the address bar & save it for one of the following steps.
  7. Go back to your League's landing page (homepage). You can do so by clicking your League's name under My League Sites, under the main menu.
  8. Click the Administer League Site menu to open its list of options. Click Manage Menu.
  9. Click Add link, at the top.
  10. Type in a Menu link title; this will appear as the page name in the menu.
  11. In the field titled Path, paste the URL from step 6.
  12. OPTIONAL FIELDS
    1. Description - text added here will appear when a user hovers over this menu link.
    2. Enabled - when chosen, a link to this page is visible in the main menu. When this option is not chosen, the menu link is disabled and will not appear in the menu.
    3. Show as expanded - If this menu link has sublinks/children links, enabling this option forces those children links to be visible in the menu at all times. By default, children links in the menu are only visible when the parent link is activated.
    4. Parent link - Here you can specify if this link should be a child link to an existing menu link. If you leave this field as-is, this menu link will be part of the main menu, just like the About or Voting pages on the Demo MyLO site
    5. Weight - You can specify the menu link's position in the menu by adding or subtracting value: the higher the number (+), the heavier it will sink to the bottom & the lower the number (-), the lighter it will be to float to the top of the list.
  13. When finished editing these fields, click Save.
  14. The new menu link will now appear in the menu. If you still need to rearrange its position in the menu, use the crosshairs to reposition the menu links. Follow this documentation for help.
