You can add anchor links to your MyLO pages to create a list of in-page links that will take the user to the anchor point on the page (you can even link to a separate page!). For an example, take a look at the About page on the MyLO Democity site. On this page, use the links at the top of the page to be taken to different spots on the About page. That's how anchor links work!

Follow these steps, in conjunction with the attachments, as your guide to create anchor link menus on your MyLO pages.

  1. Begin on the page you'd like to add anchor links to; start a New Draft (or Edit Draft) of that page.
  2. Place your cursor inside the Body text box. Place the cursor exactly where you'd like to drop in an anchor.
    • For example, take a look at the MyLO Democity About page's section headings:
      • What Is the League of Women Voters' Mission?
      • What Does the League Do Now?
      • Why Should I Support the League of Women Voters?
      • What is the History of the League of Women Voters?
    • When adding the anchor to each section, I placed my cursor to the left of each section heading.
  3. Click the Insert/Edit Anchor icon in the formatting toolbar (atop Body text box).
    • This will pop up a new small window to name your anchor. Based on the attached documentation, let's call our sample anchor: mission.
      • TIP: The anchor name cannot contain spaces; instead, use a hyphen or an underscore.
  4. Add anchor name and click Insert.
  5. You've successfully added an anchor to that spot on the page.
  6. Repeat previous steps 1-6 to create an anchor for each section on the page.

Now let's create the list of links that will correspond to each anchor you create.

  1. At the top of the page, you will create the link that will lead users to mission
  2. Type the desired link title for the anchor missionWe'll call this link: Our Mission.
  3. Highlight the link title text you just typed in (Our Mission). Highlight/select the entire phrase.
  4. Click the Link to content icon in the formatting toolbar (atop Body text box).
  5. The LinkIt window will appear. For the Link URL, type: #mission. The link URL must include the pound sign/hashtag (#) before the anchor name.
    • TIP: Whenever you create an anchor, the corresponding link URL will always be #anchorname so that the link at the top of the page can lead the user to the specific anchor in the middle of that page. Let's take the MyLO Democity About page, for example: https://my.lwv.org/california/democity/about. There is an anchor next to the section header "What Is the League of Women Voters' Mission?";the anchor name is missionThe corresponding link at the top of the page is titled Our Mission. Clicking that link (Our Mission) will take the user to the LWV Mission section, titled "What Is the League of Women Voters' Mission?".
  6. Click Insert Link.
    • The text, Our Mission, will become a link to that anchor! You can separate each anchor link with a vertical line for formatting purposes.
  7. When you've added all of your desired anchors and links, set the "Styles" of the list of links to Notice to give the links a boxed look. You can do this by highlighting the entire text of the list of links, and choose Notice.
  8. Publishing Options:
    1. MODERATION STATE: If you are happy with your changes, set this state to Published.
  9. Click Save.

There are 2 attachments; each file holds the same content/instructions. The only difference between the 2 is the file format: the 1st is a PDF, the 2nd is an image (jpg).
