You can add a social media link in the sidebar (under the search bar). The sidebar displays in the same place on every page of your site. Use this area to add icons/buttons with links to additional sources. You can manage this section through your home page.

1. Start a New Draft of the home page.

2. Scroll down to the Sidebar Content. Click to expand this section.

3. In the textbox that appears, click the final button in the toolbar: Media browser button.

4. Before uploading your own image, search All Files because many Leagues have uploaded multiple versions of a social media/website logo button.

5. Once you click Submit, the image will drop down into your sidebar text box.

6. Center your image so that it aligns with your menu and/or DONATE button.

7. Highlight your image with your cursor; you are now ready to add a link URL to it.

8. With the URL copied to your clipboard, click the Insert/Edit Link button.

9. With the Vote411 image still highlighted, click the Insert/Edit Link button (circled in red above).

10. The Insert/Edit Link window will pop up. Then fill out the fields as follows:

  • Insert Link: add/paste your destination URL here.

  • Target: you can choose to have the destination URL open in the same internet browser tab, or it can open in a new internet browser tab. By default, the system will recognize links that are internal to MyLO (all URLs beginning with my.lwv.org or lwv.org) and these will open in the same internet browser tab. Conversely, it will by default open external links in a new internet browser tab.

  • Title: the text added here will appear when a visitor hovers over this link.

  • Class: these options are the same options offered from the Styles list in the formatting toolbar. Check out our documentation on Sample Formatting to see examples of these styles.

11. Once you've filled the field(s) above (at the very least the Link URL), click Insert to drop the link into your Body text box.

12. Your title phrase has now become a link. When you place your cursor anywhere near your newly created link, your formatting toolbar will look like this:

13. When the Unlink button (the "broken chain" icon) and the Insert/Edit Link button are highlighted like this, this indicates that text your cursor is next to is an active link.

14. Publishing Options: MODERATION STATE: If you are happy with your changes, set this state to Published.

15. Click Save.
