The order of promoted items can be further controlled by editing the authoring information for each event; this info is the date and time the system recorded when the content was created. To have these items display in descending order on the front page, the top item’s authoring info should be the most recent.

  1. While in a draft of the event, scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. Click Authoring information to access these options (as pictured).
  3. Make your changes (example under screenshot).

Here are a few example events to recreate the reordering. These events would display in this order on a sample site’s front page:

  1. Voter Registration Drive (event date: 9/2 @12PM)
  2. Board Meeting (event date: 9/21 @5PM)
  3. Candidate Forum (event date: 8/29 @6PM)
  4. Naturalization Ceremony (event date: 9/2 @10AM)

The authoring information is the reason why events display in the order above. Here is the authoring info for each event:

  1. 7/24 at 18:46
  2. 7/24 at 18:04
  3. 7/09 at 21:49
  4. 7/09 at 21:24

To ultimately reorder the events on the home page, I’ll need to change the authoring info in such an order to match the order of the events:

  1. 7/25 at 18:46
  2. 7/24 at 18:04 (the furthest-away event can keep its original authoring info)
  3. 7/27 at 21:49
  4. 7/26 at 21:24

With the updated authoring info, I should see the events now display in this order:

  1. Candidate Forum (event date: 8/29 @6PM)
  2. Naturalization Ceremony (event date: 9/2 @10AM)
  3. Voter Registration Drive (event date: 9/2 @12PM)
  4. Board Meeting (event date: 9/21 @5PM)
